What is the ruling on buying a sword that has Quranic verses on its blade?

Purchasing a sword inscribed with Quranic verses is not forbidden, because writing the Quran on a sword or similar object that is not likely to be desecrated is disliked (makrooh), not forbidden. It is stated in "Matalib Uli al-Nuha": "It is disliked to write the Quran on curtains, and on anything that is likely to be debased." Even if writing on it were assumed to be forbidden, this would not necessitate the prohibition of owning or purchasing it, as the writing can be erased.
