Is buying food (such as fish, chicken, or meat) to feed domestic cats, without a human eating from it, forbidden or permissible?

Feeding a cat what was mentioned is not forbidden, nor is purchasing it for the purpose of feeding it. However, if it is something people eat, then poor Muslims have a greater right to it. So, if you were to give it to them as charity, it would be better than feeding it to cats. Cats can be fed cheaper food or leftovers from people's meals.
