Is it permissible for shop owners adjacent to the mosque to pray Friday prayer in their shops, and would their prayer be counted as congregational?

The Friday prayer is valid for the congregant outside the mosque, even if there is a road or a river between him and the mosque, provided he hears the Imam or someone who hears from the Imam, or sees him or sees someone praying with him. It is permissible for shop owners to pray inside their shops if their doors are open and they can see or hear the Imam. However, it is preferable to pray outside the shops, in their courtyards. The Malikis hold that the Friday prayer is not valid inside private, enclosed places like shops and houses. Rather, it is valid in the courtyards of the mosque, its open spaces, and the courtyards of the adjacent shops and houses that are open to the public, even if there is a road separating them from the mosque, especially when the mosque is crowded.
