The majority of scholars are of the opinion that it is desirable to publicize and announce a marriage through any permissible means, such as providing food, gathering people, or playing the duff (a type of drum), based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "Announce the marriage," and "The distinction between lawful and unlawful is the duff and the voice in marriage." It is permissible to sing (hidaa') as long as it does not contain obscenity, forbidden words, or pure falsehood.
