What is the ruling on placing the Holy Quran in wedding celebrations in Iraq where singing is heard, with the intention of seeking blessings?
It was not the practice of the Salaf to place the Qur’an at weddings, and it is an innovation that must be avoided, unless its recitation is for blessings without being taken as a methodology, and on condition that the Qur’an is not disrespected. There is no difference in this regard between Islamic and non-Islamic weddings. As for listening to singing at weddings, it is not permissible if it includes music, or if it is from women to men, or if it contains indecent speech.
