How can we reconcile the Prophet's—may Allah's prayers and peace be upon him—referral to the distorted Torah to implement the حد الرجم (stoning penalty), despite the presence of the حد الجلد (flogging penalty) in the Qur'an, with Jesus's—peace be upon him—abrogation of the stoning penalty in the Gospel?

The Jews distorted the Torah, yet some of its rulings, such as stoning, remained untampered. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, stoned two Jews who committed adultery, according to the ruling of the Torah, which coincided with his law. This was not an act based on the distorted Torah, but rather on the law of Allah revealed to him. Stoning is established in Islam and is a consensus that no one disputes except the people of innovation. The ruling of stoning in the Gospel is unclear due to doubts about its distortion and the absence of witnesses. Belief in all heavenly books is a pillar of faith, but the Quran is the only book preserved from distortion, and it supersedes the previous books. Therefore, judgment must be based on what Allah has revealed in the Quran.
