Is it permissible for the first wife to compel her husband to divorce the second wife or to divorce her (the first wife), and is the second wife rewarded for her patience in these circumstances?

Allah has made it obligatory to be just between wives in everything a man can be just in, such as dwelling, food, clothing, overnight stays, gifts, financial support, and even sexual intercourse. There is no blame on the husband if he marries another woman without his wife's knowledge, but he must be just between them. It is not permissible for the first wife to compel her husband or ask him to divorce the other, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "It is not permissible for a woman to ask for the divorce of her sister to empty her plate, for indeed she will have what has been decreed for her." Nor is it permissible for her to seek divorce for herself merely because he married a second wife, for whoever does that without reason, the scent of Paradise will be forbidden to her. Patience and contentment with Allah's decree and destiny are precisely correct, and you will be rewarded for it, Allah willing. You should be tolerant with your husband to achieve love, submit to Allah's decree and destiny, rely on Him, and regularly engage in the remembrance of Allah and the supplication of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, in times of distress and sorrow.
