Is it permissible to disown one's children, or expel them from the home, or withhold their expenses because they do not pray? And is the father responsible for their actions according to the hadith, "Each of you is a shepherd and each of you is responsible for his flock"?

The father must command his children to pray when they are seven years old and strike them for it when they are ten years old, in compliance with the saying of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: "Command your children to pray when they are seven years old, and strike them for it when they are ten." If the parent fulfills this duty, their responsibility is discharged.

They must continue to advise and guide them, and use lawful means to encourage them to pray, such as withholding money or shunning them, as the situation demands.

As for disowning or expelling them, this is not a solution; rather, it contravenes Islamic law and contradicts their reform, because their upkeep and providing suitable housing for them are your obligations.

We advise you to continue advising them and praying for them, seeking help from righteous and good people, introducing them to good companions, and preventing them from means of corruption.
