Is the Hadith in which Abu Talib's saying to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, is mentioned: "O son of my brother, your people are complaining about you..." and the Messenger's saying: "O uncle, I only want them to say one word, by which the Arabs will submit to them, and by which the non-Arabs will pay them the jizya," then their saying: "Has he made the gods into one God? Indeed, this is a truly astonishing thing," authentic?

The Fatwa's Summary:

The aforementioned Hadith narrates the story of Abu Talib's illness and the entry of a delegation from Quraysh, including Abu Jahl, to visit him. They complained to him about the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Ibn Jarir, in his Tafsir, mentioned with his chain of transmission from Ibn Abbas that Abu Jahl came between the Prophet and his uncle, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) invited them to the word "La ilaha illa Allah" (There is no god but Allah), which they found strange and rejected. This narration was mentioned by Ibn Kathir, Ahmad, An-Nasa'i, At-Tirmidhi, Ibn Abi Hatim, Ibn Jarir, and Al-Hakim. At-Tirmidhi graded it as hasan (good), and Al-Hakim authenticated it, with Al-Hakim's view being agreed upon by Adh-Dhahabi, while Al-Albani graded it as da'if (weak).
