Is it permissible for me to stop visiting my father who does not provide for me, and to be content with a brief meeting not exceeding five minutes due to my feeling of anger and distress from being with the families of his wives who know him more than I do?

The right of a father over his son is immense, and showing him dutifulness is obligatory. You must show dutifulness to your father, treat him with kindness, and obey him in what is good. It is not permissible to harm him or sever ties with him. As for reducing the frequency of your visits, there is no harm in that. Patience in showing dutifulness to one's father and treating him with kindness is among the greatest causes for Allah's pleasure and entry into Paradise. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The father is the middle gate of Paradise, so if you wish, abandon this gate or preserve it."
