Is it permissible to say: "O Allah, give me good tidings, for You are the best of those who give good tidings"?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

It is permissible to use the phrase "O Best of those who give glad tidings" in supplication, for Allah Almighty described Himself in the Quran as one who gives glad tidings to His righteous servants, as in His saying: "That is what Allah gives as glad tidings to His servants who believe and do righteous deeds" (Quran 42:23), and His saying: "Their Lord gives them glad tidings of mercy from Him and approval" (Quran 9:21). It is also established that Allah Almighty is described as "the Best of those who show mercy" and "the Best of those who forgive." However, the transmitted supplications are superior.
