Is it true that "there is no servant who faults his brother for a sin except that he will be afflicted by that very sin" was mentioned in the Qur’an or Sunnah?

The meaning of the saying is attested to by the Hadith: "Whoever shames his brother for a sin will not die until he commits it himself." However, Al-Tirmidhi said about its chain of narration: "It is not connected (ليس بمتصل)," and Al-Albani judged it to be "fabricated (موضوع)." Al-Ghazali mentioned that looking down upon others and laughing at them is forbidden by the verse: "It may be that they are better than them [49:11]." This prohibition is specific to those who are harmed. As for one who makes fun of himself and is pleased by it, mockery in his case falls under jesting.
