What is the ruling on someone who asks people to make way for him to reach the first row in prayer?

It is permissible for someone who enters the mosque and finds an opening in the first row to cut through the rows to reach it, due to the narration of the Prophet's action (peace be upon him) in this regard. It is also permissible to alert people by tapping on their shoulders to make space for him. However, during the Friday sermon (khutbah), it is not permissible to cut through the rows because it involves stepping over people's necks and engaging in forbidden idle talk.
