Is giving charity on behalf of relatives considered an act of maintaining kinship ties (silat al-rahim) if there is no physical connection with them except occasionally?

Kinship ties are of great importance in Islam, and severing them prevents entry into Paradise. Maintaining kinship ties has degrees; the lowest is to stop boycotting and to offer greetings. It involves extending good and averting harm as much as possible, such as offering financial assistance, help, and prayers. If relatives are not upright, then boycotting them for the sake of Allah is considered maintaining ties with them, along with admonishing them and supplicating for their guidance. Giving charity on behalf of living relatives benefits them and is considered a form of maintaining kinship ties.
