What is the ruling on gifting the recitation of the Qur'an to a living person who is unable to speak due to illness?

There is a difference of opinion regarding the transfer of reward to others. The preponderant view is the permissibility of dedicating the reward of reciting the Qur'an to a living person. Any act of worship performed by a Muslim, the reward of which is designated for a living or deceased Muslim, is permissible, and benefits the recipient by the accrual of that reward. It is recommended to strive in supplicating for the sick, and for one to give charity on their own behalf or for another to give charity on their behalf, as charity is a cause for the cure of illnesses.
