How do we foster love of homeland in the hearts of youth who wish to emigrate from their homelands?

The danger of traveling to non-Muslim countries lies in the prohibition of traveling to them for earning a livelihood, except out of necessity. It is important for a servant to reside in a land where they can preserve their religion. Residing in one's original homeland becomes even more imperative if it is essential for honoring one's parents or for attending to the affairs of one's children and family. Scholars have adduced the Prophet's (peace be upon him) love for Medina and his saying upon seeing Uhud, "This is Taybah, and this is Uhud, a mountain that loves us and we love it," as evidence for the permissibility of loving one's homeland. As for the widely circulated saying, "Love of homeland is part of faith," it is a fabricated hadith, which the hadith scholars have judged to be a forgery.
