What should a person suffering from speech dysfluency (stuttering) do if he is unable to begin Al-Fatihah while he is a follower and the Imam has already bowed? And is his prayer valid if he recites a little of Al-Fatihah and then bows? And does the Imam bear the recitation of Al-Fatihah on his behalf in the silent rak'ahs? And what should he do if he is unable to say the word "ashhad" in the Tashahhud and the Imam has said the Takbir for the next rak'ah, and should he stand up immediately despite not completing the Tashahhud? And what should he do if this happens at the end of the prayer; should he complete the Tashahhud after the Imam's salam and then say the salam?

We first advise the questioner to seek medical treatment. Then, the correct view is that it is obligatory for the follower (ma'mum) to recite Surat Al-Fatihah. If he is unable to complete it due to the imam's speed or his own slow recitation, he should complete it and then follow his imam, as long as he has not been preceded by more than three long, intentional pillars. Similarly, he should complete the first tashahhud even if the imam stands up for the rak'ah, because it is obligatory according to many scholars.

If the imam pronounces the taslim while the follower is still in the last tashahhud, the follower should complete his tashahhud, send blessings upon the Prophet (peace be upon him), supplicate, and then pronounce the taslim; there is no harm in that. We have explained that many scholars have permitted taking some dispensations when there is a need.
