Is it permissible for a husband to neglect his sick wife and leave her without care or inquiring about her condition, especially if she is a foreign resident and has no family?

The spouses are obligated to treat each other with kindness. If the husband neglects his wife during her illness without an excuse, he is mistreating her. It is advised to discuss the matter with him gently and remind him of the Prophet's (peace be upon him) advice: "Treat women kindly" and his saying: "The best among you are those who are best to their families." It is important to find out the reason for the neglect, as he may have an excuse or be upset due to a shortcoming on her part. He might also intentionally reduce his kindness so that the wife notices and asks for the reason, leading her to rectify it. It is advised to be patient and not to respond to harshness with harshness.
