Is what the husband said to his wife via text message: "As of now, you are no longer my wife," considered a divorce, and is his verbal statement: "You are divorced," considered a second divorce? What are the conditions for the wife's return in both cases, and what is the timeframe available for reconciliation without a new contract?

What a person intends in his heart but does not utter has no bearing. As for what he wrote in the letter, if he intended divorce by it, then it takes effect and counts as one divorce. And what he uttered on the following day counts as a second divorce. If there was no prior divorce, then two divorces are counted, and he has the right to take her back before the expiration of her waiting period without a new contract or her consent, based on the Almighty's saying: "And their husbands have more right to take them back in that [period]." The waiting period is three menstrual cycles for a menstruating woman, and three months for a young girl and a woman past childbearing age. The return (to the marriage) can occur through speech or action with intention, or through intercourse even without intention.
