Is there a Qur'anic text or one from the Prophetic Sunnah that proves Allah is Ancient without beginning?
The name of Allah, "the First" (Al-Awwal), indicates that His being first has no beginning due to its perfection, and "the Last" (Al-Akhir) indicates His everlasting existence without end. Allah is ancient without beginning and eternal without end. The name "the Ancient" (Al-Qadim) is not among Allah's Most Beautiful Names, because it means that which precedes others, not that which was never preceded by non-existence. His name "the Ever-Living" (Al-Hayy) indicates the permanence of His existence, which was not preceded by non-existence and will not be followed by annihilation. His name "the Eternal" (As-Samad) indicates His eternality. The existence of Allah in eternity past and eternity future is established in human nature and is among the requisites of faith in His perfection and His being sanctified from all imperfections.
