What is the ruling on a government official taking a percentage of the profits of a private company in exchange for facilitating and coordinating a project between his company and other parties, knowing that not all of these tasks are part of his core duties?

If the work of this government official involves facilitating, coordinating, and following up on your affairs, then it is not permissible for him to take a percentage of your profits. This is because such a percentage is considered a reduction in price, which rightfully belongs to his employer. Ibn Qudamah stated that whatever the buyer gifts to the seller due to the sale belongs to the owner of the merchandise, considering it an increase in price attached to the contract. Similarly, a gift from the seller to the buyer's agent is considered a reduction in price and belongs to the principal.
