Is it permissible to distribute chapters (surahs) of the Quran, or prayers upon the Prophet, or dhikr (remembrance of God), or fasting among several people, and to read them at a specific time or on a specific day, in order to avert a calamity?

A servant must adhere to the Sharia in prosperity and adversity, and face tribulations with supplication, worship, and repentance, such as reciting the Quran, fasting, and performing dhikr. The Prophets would resort to prayer during hardships. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, also encouraged abundant prayers upon him to relieve worries and gain forgiveness of sins. The Sharia has sanctioned collective acts of worship for certain calamities, such as Qunut al-Nawazil, the prayer for rain (Salat al-Istisqa), the eclipse prayer (Salat al-Kusuf), and the funeral prayer (Salat al-Janazah). However, people gathering collectively for every calamity is not from the Sunnah; rather, they are commanded to repent and obey, each on their own, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, would resort to prayer and supplicate individually during hardships.
