How old was the Prophet Moses (peace be upon him) when his mother cast him into the sea?

Imam al-Tabari mentioned that the people of tafsir (interpretation) differed concerning the exact time when Musa's mother was commanded to cast him into the sea. Some said it was four months after his birth, while others said it was immediately after she gave birth to him and nursed him. Al-Tabari favored the view that Musa's mother was commanded to nurse him and cast him into the sea when she feared for him from Pharaoh and his soldiers, and that there is no specific evidence determining the exact duration. Therefore, it is best to submit to what is stated in the Holy Quran.
