The answer

Fasting Ramadan is obligatory for every accountable, healthy, resident individual. Whoever experiences hardship and difficulty, and fears harm during the fast, is permitted to break it. Then, he should refrain from eating and drinking for the rest of that day and make up for it when able, as Allah Almighty says: (So fear Allah as much as you are able), and His saying: (Allah does not intend to make any difficulty for you). It is not permissible to be lenient in breaking the fast without a valid excuse, due to the severe warning issued against those who break their fast before the time of iftar. Therefore, the security officer must intend to fast from the night. If he encounters a hardship that is difficult to bear, he is permitted to break his fast.
