Is the husband obligated to spend on his wife?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

Allah Almighty has prohibited reminding others of one's charity, and He has deemed it nullifying. This prohibition against reminding of one's favor becomes even stronger if it concerns an obligatory matter. Providing for one's wife is obligatory upon the husband; therefore, it is not permissible for him to remind her of what he spends, because it is an obligation upon him, and because reminding of one's favor is forbidden and nullifies the deed. The husband must repent and abandon this reprehensible characteristic, and he should live with his wife in kindness.
