Is Allah sitting on His Footstool or on the Throne? What are the specifications of the Throne? And are the Footstool and the Throne one and the same, or are they separate, knowing that the Footstool encompasses the heavens and the earth?

Allah, the Exalted, "established Himself over the Throne" (ista'wa ala arshihi), and the interpretation of istiwa' is ascension, transcendence, and settlement, not sitting.

The Kursi (Footstool) is not the 'Arsh (Throne). The Throne is mightier and greater than the Footstool. It (the Footstool) is a creation before the Throne, and the most correct opinion is that it is the place for the feet from the Throne.

The Throne is the greatest, most expansive, and heaviest of creations. It has pillars and is carried by angels. It is domed, and Allah described it as "magnificent" (al-Azim), "noble" (al-Karim), and "glorious" (al-Majid).
