The answer

Marrying a divorced woman is permissible; indeed, in some cases, it may even be preferable to marrying a virgin, as exemplified by Jaber's act and the Prophet's (peace be upon him) marriage to Khadijah. There is no harm in you marrying her if your mother agrees. Otherwise, obedience to her is obligatory, unless you would be harmed by not marrying her. The default is that marrying a virgin is recommended, based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying to Jaber: "Why not a virgin whom you could play with and she could play with you?" And Ibn Qudamah said: "It is recommended to choose a religious, fertile, virgin woman of noble lineage." One must beware of online interactions between non-mahram men and women, due to the dangers and temptations involved.
