Can my ex-husband take me back without my knowledge and consent after a final, irrevocable divorce, and as my waiting period is about to end?

The default rule for divorce is that it is revocable, meaning the husband has the right to take his wife back as long as she is within her waiting period ('iddah). This is unless the divorce occurred before consummation, or was for financial consideration, or was issued by a judge, or completed the third divorce – in which cases it is an irrevocable divorce, and the husband does not have the right to take her back except with a new marriage contract.

A revocable divorce allows the husband to return to his wife by resuming marital relations as long as she is within her 'iddah, without a new contract. However, if the 'iddah ends, he can return to her with a new contract.

An irrevocable divorce (whether one or two pronouncements) permits the husband to return to his wife, whether during her 'iddah or after it, with a new marriage contract.

If the divorce is the third pronouncement (major irrevocable divorce), then the wife does not become lawful for him until she marries another man and he consummates the marriage with her, then he divorces her or dies, and her 'iddah from him ends. At that point, it is permissible for him to return to her with a new marriage contract.

If the divorce is irrevocable, the husband is not permitted to take his wife back except with her consent and a new marriage contract.
