What is the ruling on breaking a repentance concerning something that is not forbidden?
If a person repents from a disliked matter (makrooh) or something that is contrary to what is better (khilaf al-awla), they do not sin by breaking their repentance. However, they should continue to abstain from it. For whoever abstains from the disliked and the doubtful will be even more apt to abstain from the forbidden, and they will be rewarded for their abstinence, seeking the countenance of Allah.
