The answer

Continuity between circuits is a condition for the validity of the Tawaf. If a long break occurs between them, the Tawaf becomes void and must be recommenced. A short break is excused. It is permissible to interrupt the Tawaf for an obligatory prayer or a funeral prayer, and then resume it. As for eating, drinking, speaking, and sleeping, these do not invalidate the Tawaf, but eating and drinking are disliked, and it is recommended to occupy oneself with dhikr (remembrance of Allah) and du'a (supplication). The majority of scholars are of the opinion that purity from ritual impurity (hadath) is a condition for the validity of the Tawaf.
