Is the Hadith: "My Companions are like the stars; by whichever of them you guide yourselves, you will be rightly guided," authentic?

The Hadith: "My Companions are like the stars; whichever of them you follow, you will be guided" was narrated by Ibn Abd al-Barr, Ibn Hazm, al-Khatib, al-Bayhaqi, al-Daylami, and Ibn Asakir. However, all of its chains of narration are very weak and include abandoned narrators and liars. The scholars, such as Imam Ahmad, Ibn Hazm, Ibn al-Qayyim, and al-Shawkani, have unanimously agreed on the inauthenticity of this Hadith and that it is fabricated (Mawdu‘), as stated by Sheikh al-Albani. Ibn Hazm denied its authenticity in terms of its text, explaining that acting upon it would lead to contradictions in Islamic rulings. Therefore, it is not permissible to attribute it to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him.
