Is the supplicant sinful for her patience with the harm inflicted by her husband and his family, for avoiding problems with them, and for treating them kindly, despite their accusations of her being controlling, their arrogance towards her, and their claim to be superior to her in religion and lineage?

Patience in the face of harm from the husband's family and reciprocating their ill-treatment with good deeds is a great act, for Allah Almighty says: "And not equal are the good deed and the bad. Repel [evil] by that which is best, then behold, he between whom and you was enmity [will become] as though he was a devoted friend. But none is granted it except those who are patient, and none is granted it except one having a great portion [of good]." Furthermore, avoiding excessive mingling with them while still showing them kindness is better; this falls under "beautiful avoidance," which means refraining from close association without causing harm. It is also necessary to continue advising the husband, no matter how much his family tries to influence him or cause discord between the spouses, for the advice of the benevolent to the ill-doer is among the most beneficial forms of affection between spouses.
