How can a 16-year-old hijab-wearing girl reconcile her desire to adhere to the prescribed Islamic dress and niqab, with the opposition of family and society who view it as an overcomplication, while she feels that God may not be pleased with her?

May Allah reward the questioner for her keenness on the hijab. We advise her to turn to Allah and ask Him for steadfastness, to be diligent in seeking beneficial knowledge and performing righteous deeds, to attend gatherings of goodness, and to associate with righteous women. The opposition of the mother and society to the hijab is natural; it is one of Allah's established ways in His creation. One must be gentle with the mother and show her kindness, even if she errs. Adhering to the legal hijab that covers the body, with the exception of the face and hands, is an obligation by consensus, and there is no obedience to a creature in disobedience to Allah. Whoever seeks Allah's pleasure by incurring people's displeasure, Allah will be pleased with him and will make people pleased with him. As for covering the face, the preponderant opinion is that it is obligatory, but the matter is less stringent than the hijab itself. There is no specific type of hijab; rather, there are conditions that, when met in any garment, render it a legal hijab.
