Who were the Companions who asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) to supplicate for them, what did they supplicate for, did the Messenger agree or refuse, and will our supplications be answered if we supplicate with the same supplications as theirs?

The answer can be summarized as follows: The Prophet (peace be upon him) was merciful to his companions and responded to their requests for supplication. He prayed for Anas for blessings in wealth and children, for the host for forgiveness and mercy, and for Abu Hurayrah and his mother for guidance and love.

Sometimes, the Prophet (peace be upon him) excused himself from supplicating for a wise reason, as happened with the Ansari man who asked to be among the seventy thousand who would enter Paradise. The Prophet said to him: "Ukkashah preceded you."

The Prophet also guided the seeker to what was more beneficial for them, as happened with the epileptic woman. He gave her the choice between patiently enduring her illness, for which she would have Paradise, or for him to supplicate for her healing.

Instead of tracking the news of the Companions for whom the Prophet (peace be upon him) supplicated, one can follow the supplications that the Prophet (peace be upon him) instructed us to adhere to, such as those found in books of remembrances and Hisn al-Muslim.

Adhering to the Prophet's forms of supplication and following him is the way to have supplications accepted, in fulfillment of Allah's saying: ﴿Indeed, in the Messenger of Allah you have a good example to follow for him who hopes in Allah and the Last Day and remembers Allah much.﴾ Al-Ahzab/21.

Accompanying the adherence to prophetic supplications must be the presence of the heart, which is achieved through sincerity to Allah, humility, and complete certainty of response.

Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah pointed out that remembrances and supplications are acts of worship based on adherence [to tradition] not innovation, and that prophetic supplications are the best. It is not permissible for anyone to institute for people a type of remembrance that is not legislated.
