Is there a special status for the pigeons of Mecca and Medina?

The pigeons of Mecca and Medina have no special status, except that they are not to be hunted or disturbed as long as they are within the boundaries of the Haram; this is due to the general Ahadith that prohibit hunting and disturbing game within the sacred precincts of the Two Holy Sanctuaries.
