Why are not Hadiths like: "I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah" and "By Your mercy I seek help" taken literally as permitting seeking refuge and seeking help through the attributes of Allah, and why have they been interpreted as a means of intercession, especially since the majestic name of Allah was not mentioned in the first Hadith?

Seeking refuge through the attributes of Allah, such as speech (Kalam), might (Izzah), and power (Qudrah), is permissible and legislated, and the Prophetic narrations (Ahadith) have indicated this. Seeking refuge through an attribute ascribed to Allah the Almighty means seeking refuge in Allah; because the attribute is inextricably linked to His Essence, and the statement that Allah's attributes are uncreated reinforces this understanding. What is forbidden is supplicating to an attribute disjoined from Allah's Essence, as this could lead to polytheism (Shirk). However, when a Muslim seeks refuge through an attribute of Allah, he is seeking refuge in Allah, Who is described by that attribute, and it is a means of drawing closer to Him through His words and attributes.
