To what extent is the hadith "So-and-so passed by me, and desire for women fell into my heart. So I went to one of my wives and had intercourse with her. So do likewise, for indeed among your most excellent deeds is lawful intercourse" authentic? And are there any Israʼiliyyat (tales from Jewish tradition) in the hadith literature?

This hadith was narrated by Imam Ahmad and Al-Tabarani, and authenticated by Al-Albani and Al-Arna'ut. It is supported by what is in Sahih Muslim: "If one of you is attracted to a woman and she falls into his heart, let him go to his wife and have intercourse with her, for that will repel what is in his soul." Al-Nawawi mentioned that the meaning of the hadith is the desirability for one who sees a woman and his desire is aroused, to go to his wife to satisfy his desire and calm his soul.
