Naming the newborn is the father's right, and the wife is not entitled to object to the father's choice of a good name, especially if it is one of the names of the Companions. Such matters should not be a cause of dispute between spouses, as the issue is straightforward. The mother should not quarrel or dispute, and consultation between the parents is a means for mutual agreement and affection. The wife's desire for another legally permissible name does not indicate a weakness in her religious sensibility, and being keen on raising the child with virtues does not necessitate naming him a specific name from among the righteous, but rather it is sufficient to name him a good name and strive to raise him and teach him religion, with cooperation between the spouses and seeking help from Allah.
