Will Allah forgive my father, who did not fast 4 years of Ramadan in his youth, and is now unable to make them up or pay expiation for them?

Your father's situation is one of two:
1. If he is unable to fast due to old age: He is obligated to feed one poor person for each day (a mudd of food) as a substitute for making up the missed months, and similarly, an expiation for delaying the make-up. If begins and he is unable to fast, he is obligated to feed one poor person for each day.
2. If he is able to fast: He is obligated to make up four months (and he may spread them out), and he is also obligated to feed one poor person for each day he missed, as an expiation for delaying the make-up.
The expiation of fasting for two months for a single day is incorrect, unless he intentionally broke his fast by engaging in intercourse, in which case he is obligated to fast for two consecutive months. If he is unable, then he must feed sixty poor people.
