What is the authenticity of the chain of transmission for this supplication, and is its meaning correct: "O Lord, do not make me among those who do not supplicate You except for a need within themselves, nor draw near to You except for a benefit. O Lord, draw me near to You with the nearness of the lover, not the nearness of the needy"?

There is no origin for this supplication, and it is better for a Muslim to supplicate with comprehensive prayers that encompass the good of this world and the hereafter. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, preferred comprehensive supplications. The best supplications are those transmitted from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him.
