What are the rights and duties of spouses before the marriage contract, in light of the husband's excessive control that prevents the wife from living her normal life?

The wife, before consummation, owes obedience to her guardian. The husband does not have the right to prevent her from going out or to compel her mother to accompany her. It is preferable to obey the husband in matters that are not problematic. There are no specific rights and duties between a man and a woman before the marriage contract; rather, these are the general rights of Muslims. The suitor is a stranger to his fiancée, and he is only permitted to look at her.
