Is it possible to invite a person characterized by lying, betrayal, selfishness, disregard for lawful and unlawful matters, and self-abasement, to the path of truth? Can he abandon greed and love of this world? What can be done with him?

Know that hearts are between two of the Most Merciful's fingers; He turns them as He wills. It is not far-fetched that Allah may guide your brother and expand his breast, but the matter requires wisdom and patience. Therefore, do not abandon enjoining good upon him and forbidding evil. We advise you to endear yourself to him and draw him closer, for his change might be due to a psychological imbalance that has afflicted him. So, take his hand and strengthen his resolve. Do not belittle him or mention his faults, especially in front of people. Give him hope in the rectification of his situation and remind him of his past commitment. Gather around him a group of good, committed young men, and entrust him to them so they may look after him, inquire about him, and include him in their activities. And never stop supplicating for his guidance.
