Is it considered unlawful (haram) or lawful (halal) to expose and touch women's private parts in the subject of Obstetrics and Gynecology for students who are not specialized in this field?

A man's work in gynecology and obstetrics is fraught with legitimate concerns, such as the exposure of awrah (private parts). He should seek another specialization in which he can avoid these concerns. If he cannot find another specialty, and he is in need of this one, or people are in need of him, then he is permitted to continue, while avoiding looking and touching as much as possible. These situations are permissible only in cases of extreme necessity, such as saving a life.
