If the husband says to his wife: "You are unlawful for me to touch," the ruling depends on his intention:

Dhihar: If he intended Dhihar, then he must offer expiation for it: freeing a slave. If he cannot find one, then fasting for two consecutive months. If he is unable to do that, then feeding sixty needy persons. He is not permitted to touch his wife before paying the expiation. Feeding sixty needy persons suffices after being unable to free a slave or fast. The required amount is debated, but it is safer to give half a Sa' (approximately 1.5 kilograms) to each needy person. It is permissible to provide ready meals, provided they are satisfying. Divorce: If he intended divorce, then a single revocable divorce occurs, with the possibility of reconciliation during the waiting period if it was not the final divorce.
