Is drumming subject to the same ruling as music, and should its practitioner be denounced?

The ruling on "tapping" (or rhythmic striking) at weddings and other occasions depends on the instrument used. If it is done with a duff (a tambourine or drum open on one side), it is permissible at weddings, provided certain conditions are met: it must be striking the duff only (which is sealed on one side), it must not be accompanied by indecent or lust-inciting singing, it must not lead to fitna (temptation or discord) such as the emergence of beautiful voices (from women, in a mixed gathering), and it must not cause harm to others, like through loud speakers. However, if the tapping is done with a tabl (a double-headed drum), it is not permissible, because it is one of the forbidden musical instruments. If the tapping is done with cups, plates, and similar items, and it produces harmonious and melodious sounds, its ruling is that of forbidden music. Based on this, if someone next to you is listening to forbidden auditory material, you must denounce it, adhering to the prescribed guidelines for denunciation.
