What is the ruling of the Shari'ah concerning one who was forced to masturbate during the daytime in Ramadan, then drank water due to feeling distressed, and wishes to know how to make up for the days she broke her fast and pay expiation, given her inability to fast or provide money?

A woman who broke her fast in Ramadan due to intense heat, fearing harm or finding the hardship unbearable, bears no sin. She is only required to make up the missed day, without expiation (kaffarah). However, if she broke her fast despite being able to fast, she has done wrong due to the absence of a legitimate Shariah excuse, and she must repent. Masturbation does not invalidate the fast unless ejaculation occurs, in which case she only needs to make up that day, without a severe expiation (kaffarah mughalladhah). Similarly, intentional eating and drinking only necessitate making up the day. The severe expiation (freeing a slave, or fasting for two consecutive months, or feeding sixty needy persons) is only obligatory for sexual intercourse.
