Should I take seriously the statement of a woman – not a soothsayer or sorceress – that there is witchcraft affecting me, and what should I do about it, especially given that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, was afflicted by magic?

You must stay away from people who claim to know magic through jinn. Magic exists and has an effect, and this has been proven by the Quran and Sunnah. Magic is treated with ruqyah (Islamic incantation) by reciting Al-Fatiha, Ayatul-Kursi, Al-Ikhlas, Al-Mu'awwidhatayn (Al-Falaq and An-Nas), the last two verses of Al-Baqarah, verses that invalidate magic, and prophetic supplications. One can also recite these over water and olive oil, then drink the water and anoint the body with the oil, while being cautious of sins and transgressions.

Delay in marriage may not be due to magic or envy, but rather to divine wisdom. You must seek refuge in Allah, remember Him frequently, maintain ablution, recite morning and evening remembrances, and turn to Allah in supplication, such as the supplication: "O Allah, grant us good in this world and good in the Hereafter, and protect us from the torment of the Fire," and "O Allah, forgive me, have mercy on me, grant me well-being, and provide for me."

It is recommended to observe the prescribed hijab, maintain chastity, avoid free mixing, reduce the dowry, and for the guardian to present the girl to righteous young men.
