What is the religious ruling on a woman who practices witchcraft on her husband?

Sorcery is one of the major sins; indeed, it is an act of disbelief that expels one from the faith, based on the Almighty's saying: (And Solomon did not disbelieve, but the devils disbelieved, teaching people magic), and on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "Avoid the seven destructive sins." They said: "O Messenger of Allah, what are they?" He said: "Associating partners with Allah, and sorcery..." Therefore, it is impermissible to learn it, teach it, use it, or go to sorcerers. The woman who practices sorcery, which involves disbelief, against her husband must repent. If she repents, then praise be to Allah; otherwise, she is an apostate, and it is not permissible for her husband to remain with her, due to His (the Exalted) saying: (And do not hold on to the bonds of disbelieving women). Sorcery has a reality; some of it can kill, cause illness, separate a man from his wife, and one disbelieves by teaching and practicing it. As for sorcery performed with medicines, smoke, or potions, it does not constitute disbelief. The matter of the sorceress must be referred to the Sharia court to consider her case and apply the appropriate punishment.
