Is a daughter obligated to visit her father, who is separated from her mother, neglects her, and accuses her of disobedience because she refuses to visit him? Is she sinful for not going to him, given that she is experiencing psychological distress and does not feel comfort or safety with him? And what are her binding duties towards him?

If a father neglects the rights of his children, such as their maintenance and care, he is sinful, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "It is sufficient sin for a person to neglect those whom he supports." He should be advised. There is no blame on a son if he dislikes his father in his heart due to his shortcomings, but honoring one's parents remains obligatory, even if they are unjust or mistaken. The son must visit his father and inquire about his condition if possible, without harm. However, if the son fears religious or worldly harm from visiting, he is not obligated to obey in this regard, but he must maintain ties with him through other means. The travel of a woman to visit her father requires the presence of a mahram according to the majority of scholars. Sheikh Al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah held the view that she may travel with a safe company for a journey of obedience. Goodness changes hearts, so repel evil with good, especially with parents, and one must pray for them.
