The question

Is it permissible for a woman to give charity, supplicate, and perform 'Umrah on behalf of a relative who passed away before her marriage to him? And does the ruling differ if it is with her own money or her father's money? And is it permissible for her to continue doing so after her marriage to another person?

The answer

We ask Allah to encompass the deceased with His vast mercy and to facilitate a husband better than him for you. There is no blame upon you for supplicating for him, giving charity on his behalf, and performing Umrah on his behalf, provided you have already performed Umrah for yourself and he had not performed it for himself. It is not permissible for you to take money from your father's wealth for Umrah except with his permission. It is permissible for you to continue giving charity and supplicating for him after marrying someone else, but without showing it to your husband to avoid his anger.
